The process that alters the form of flat steel sheet is known as forming. Annealing, cold rolling, bending, forging, mechanical working, drawing, press forming, welding and roll forming are the processes that are typically used to form the sheet metallic.
Forming, cutting and finishing are the three primary processes of precision sheet metallic fabrication. Laser cutting, electro discharge machining, water jet cutting and wire cut EDM are the some other modern techniques of precision sheet metal fabrication process.
Laser cutting means the process of cutting the materials with a laser beam. In this process a laser beam is directing against a metallic surface. The level of accuracy and complexity that it allows is impossible for most other cutting processes that are available.
Water jet cutting is the most versatile cutting process. In this process a jet of water, at high velocity and pressure, or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance is used. For sensitive to the high temperature materials, it is preferred method as other methods generate high temperature.
It is thought that some of the first practitioners of metallic fabrication where the ancient Egyptians who used steel working for the creation of gold jewelry. While gold is found in nature and requires little work to form and mold, eventually it was discovered that ore and heat could be used to accomplish more. With that knowledge, even today archaeologists find remnants of ancient mines all over the world.
There are a number of steps that are followed by the sheet steel fabrication professionals to accomplish the tasks. The operation is started with some preliminary operations, like slitting, perforating or cutting methods. These are done with the help of some equipment that are designed to perform shearing action. These can range from poweroperated bench shears to cutting tools (like scissor).
